CAA Event on 24th Aug in MAPS

Final assembly of the Cleaner Air for Primary Schools International Project conducted by Clean Air Asia with 30 Air Quality Champions of Class 5.
Since May 2017, the Air Quality Champions have learnt a lot about Air Pollution, its sources, its affects on our health and our environment. They have also learnt about Nitrogen Dioxide and Particulate Matter (PM 2.5 and PM 10) - poisonous gases that pollute our air and make it difficult to breathe. During their class engagements on air pollution, the Air Quality champions also calculated our own emission scores and learnt how to measure the nitrogen dioxide in our school through diffusion tubes.

They planted the tubes in different areas of the school and sent them to London after two weeks, where the nitrogen dioxide levels captured in the tubes were measured. It was found that the nitrogen dioxide levels in our school are very high. So, we AQ Champions decided to work on projects that will bring the change.

The team conducted surveys with teachers, van drivers and doctors to understand how they contribute to air pollution and how we can all be part of the solution.
Few Air Quality Champions have also planted some air purifying plants in the school.
